INDIA PAKISTAN RELATIONS:

The relationships b/w Pakistan and India have always been very influenced since the partition of British India. Both the countries have historical and political issues from the time of their partition. Usually Kashmir issue, major military issues and many other past issues are hurdles in good relationships among these countries. Although both the countries share economic, cultural, geographical heritage and resources but conflicts always remained between them. After the destruction of the British Raj in 1947, two new sovereign nations were formed the state of India and the state of Pakistan. The subsequent partition of the former British India displaced up to 12 million people, with estimates of loss of life varying from several hundred thousand to million. India formed into a secular nation with a Hindu majority population and a large Muslim minority, while Pakistan emerged as a republic with an overwhelming Muslim majority population, although its constitution provided complete freedom of religion to people of all faiths.

After Independence, India and Pakistan made diplomatic relations but the violent partition and numerous territorial claims would over shadow their relationship. Since their independence, the two countries have fought three major wars, one undeclared war and have been involved in numerous armed skirmishes and military standoffs. The Kashmir conflict is the main center point of all of these conflicts with the exception of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and Bangladesh Liberation War, which resulted in the secession of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
Numerous attempts have been made for their good relations. Notably, the Shimla summit, the Agra summit and the Lahore summit. Since the early 1980, relations between the two nations destroyed especially after the Siachen incident, the intensification of Kashmir insurgency in 1989, Indian and Pakistani nuclear tests in 1998 and the 1999 Kargil war. Many advanced activities such as the 2003 ceasefire agreement and the Delhi–Lahore Bus service were successful in deescalating tensions. However, these efforts have been affected by terrorist’s attacks. The 2001 Indian Parliament attack almost get the two nations to a huge war. The 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings which killed 68 civilians (most of whom were Pakistani) was also a damaging situation among these countries. Additionally, the 2008 Mumbai attacks which was blamed on Pakistani militant was also a big defect in relation among these countries and India took a strong notice of this attack.

After all nowadays Kashmir issue is the major cause of dispute among these two constituents, both the states don’t want to release Kashmir and huge variety of protests take place in Kashmir on this issue. India don’t want to release Kashmir so many lives have been lost due to this conflict. India daily fires the protesters and many Kashmirs lives have been destroyed. This issue can only be resolved by talk not by fighting against each other. And one state should have to free Kashmir. No other country and and no other power can resolve this issue but the point is both the states don’t want to sit and talk on this topic and in the past few days there were rumors of war’s among Pakistan and India. Afterall this issue is still not resolved.
